Pilates is an intelligent form of exercise based on slow precise and controlled movements. It is non impact and therefore suitable for all ages and abilities. In just a few lessons you will feel the difference.
Lifestlye can have a detrimental effect on the body. Sitting at computers, driving, playing sport, etc all play havoc with your posture. With regular practice Pilates can re-educate your muscles resulting in better posture (a major cause of back pain). This enables the body to perform more efficiently and therefore reduce back and joint pain.
Pilates is particularly suited to the older adult as it helps the body to remain flexible particularly at the joints, knees, shoulders etc. So it is suitable whether you have osteoarthritis or have had a hip replacement.
It is also suitable for pre & post natal ladies. However, if you have not practised Pilates before I could not take you into a regular class until 13 weeks into your pregnancy. It would be advisable have a personal session before joining a class to assess posture and ensure that the programme in place is beneficial at this special time.
Pilates is also a great form of exercise to complement your existing sporting activities as Pilates encourages good muscular alignment. So whether you play football, tennis, squash or golf, Pilates adds balance to your regime. If you have an injury, Pilates can help to rehabilitate your injury and prevent further injury. Some benefits of Pilates are:
